Clutch: Speaking of magazines, you landed your first cover with Nesting Newbies! How exciting is that?

Jeanine: Nesting Newbies was another wonderful experience. I can tell you this: the power of Twitter is incredible. I learned about the online magazine via a tweet, and sent them a quick note to let them know I was a Bay Area designer. Soon my husband and I were asked to put together a selection of pillows for their cover shoot. The editors, Jodi Murphy and Lea McIntosh are amazing women who embrace the work of new designers and bloggers. They also invited me to participate in a video shoot that was inside the magazine. It was my first time doing a segment on camera, and I had a wonderful time getting cooking tips from a trained chef and learning what happens in front of and behind the camera. My husband (who is my incredible business partner) also enjoyed the experience. He received his first styling credit as we both helped with the styling of the cover shot.

The New York Design Center reviewed Nesting Newbies in their recent issue of Array Magazine on page 13. Thank you to the editors and columnist Cathy Whitlock for such rave reviews {we blush}. Notice the cover featuring five design bloggers–Grace Bonney, Jean Lin, Jennifer Boles, Danielle de Vita, and Maxwell Gillingham-Ryan–and a feature story on bloggers as “The New Curators.” So nice to see the NY design center recognize those of us in the new media landscape!

Nesting Newbies Contributing Writer, Colleen Luntzel of Designing DNA, broke champagne over her bow this morning to launch her blog-about vacation…an international adventure. She takes us through exciting ports-of-call hosted by guest bloggers from around the world. Check out her first destination…the Netherlands, from Saskia of Join My Joy.

Nesting Newbies is the sole online magazine sponsor of Still Life with Banquet, a crazy cool event that will kick off the even crazier cool 01SJ Biennial, a multi-disciplinary, multi-venue event of visual and performing arts, the moving image, public art, and interactive digital media produced by ZER01. Think art to the max–The Biennial has attracted over 65,000 and has showcased the work of 350 international artists (both emerging and established).

Still Life is a multi-course meal, using mostly local, organically grown, pristine ingredients that will be carefully prepared under the guidance of Chef Kitty Greenwald.  Guests will sit at long banquet tables and be served family style.  The meal will be accompanied by high-res projections of the meal’s ingredients modeled after Dutch still lives of the 17th and 18th centuries. Artist Grahame Weinbren will surround the diners with images of the life cycle of the ingredients: From soil to emerging into their natural process of growth continuing to their decay and decomposition. The dinner will explore food’s shifting identity — what was once luxurious is now accessible and inexpensive, what is fresh and healthy a bourgeois luxury.

This is what we love about ZER01.  Their mission is to inspire creativity at the intersection of art, technology, and digital culture.  They make art relevant for today and allow us to EXPERIENCE it in exciting…and crazy new ways.

Colleen Luntzel of Designing dna has come up with a brilliant idea–one that will satisfy our thrill for the hunt and give us all a great reason to spend some money.  Colleen is organizing an online, virtual blog Flea Market Round-Up!  There are vendors galore lined up to sell their treasures and the proceeds will go to Samaritan’s Purse to help fund their program to rebuild the homes that were destroyed in Hurricane Katrina and the floods in Atlanta (yes, there are many who still need assistance).

No need to travel or leave the comfort of home…just grab your cup of tea, log on and start shopping.

“I have participated in a number of events during Sundance, but helping to produce Artist at the Table is a huge honor and very exciting,” says Barclay.  “I love film and admire the impressive nurturing of talent.”

Barclay created a wonderful ambiance using his Paris-lounge inspired Brentwood Settee in red linen, white woven linen draperies, pyramid-shaped candelabras and loads of soft pillows in blue velvet, leopard print, and a rich blue/gold/red satin stripe.

The tables were beautifully adorned featuring centerpieces with two clear hurricanes filled with crystals holding white candles and a vase of fragrant white tulips with red dogwood branches.  “I wanted to connect the outside white from the snow with the indoors.”

This important fundraising event was a sell out and a great way to kick-off the festival.  Check out this video clip from the Sundance Institute.
