Inspiration! Color Themes from Farrow & Ball

3 Comments 12 March 2010

We all love inspiration boards as a starting point for home decorating. Here are a few that will ignite your creativity from Farrow and Ball.

Inspiration Board: Fig
Deep purples, almost black, sultry, sophisticated

Farrow and Ball - Jo Malone 1
Paint: Pelt, No. 254

Pair with:
Great White, No. 2006
Stony Ground, No. 211
Card Room Green, No. 79

Wallpaper: Plain Stripe, ST 1130

Personal & Room Scent: Jo Malone Wild Fig & Cassis (Candle available in May 2010)

Editor’s Note: I adore the color purple but have never cared for it as a wall color…until this! I guess it’s the gray undertones that I am attracted to—it’s very sophisticated. Check out how well the color inside of the fig complements the palate. Wouldn’t pillows in this color be a brilliant, and unexpected, accent?

Inspiration Board: Grapefruit
Light, refreshing, breezy, whimsical

Farrow and Ball - Jo Malone 3
Paint: Farrow’s Cream, No. 67

Pair with:
Dauphin, No. 54
Vert De Terre, No. 234
White Tie, No. 2002

Wallpaper: The Vermicelli Papers, BP 1535

Personal & Room Scent: Jo Malone Grapefruit (Candle Available in May 2010)

Editor’s Note: This is my favorite! It feels elegant and chic but not too serious. I could see this in any room in my house.  J’adore taupes and blues…

Inspiration Board: Spa-scape
Subdued greens, soothing, peaceful, relaxing

Farrow and Ball - Jo Malone 5
Paint: Breakfast Room Green, No. 81

Pair with:
Calke Green, No. 34
Slipper Satin, No. 2004
Carriage Green, No. 94

Wallpaper: The Bamboo Papers, BP 2139

Personal & Room Scent: Jo Malone Lime Basil & Mandarin (Candle Available in May 2010)

Editor’s Note: I can see myself soaking in a big white tub and relaxing to the soothing Jo Malone scent as it floats delicately through the air…geez, I’m deep : )

Inspiration Board: Pomegranate & Raspberries
Serious reds, bold, brash, unafraid, confident

Farrow and Ball - Jo Malone 4

Paint: Eating Room Red, No. 43

Pair with:
Hague Blue, No. 30
Dead Salmon, No. 28
Pink Ground, No. 202

Wallpaper: The Ringwold Papers, BP 1624

Personal & Room Scent: Jo Malone Pomegranate Noir (Candle Available in May 2010)

Editor’s Note: Wow! I can see this combination in a fabulous dining room or maybe even a master bedroom—but I don’t know if I’m fearless enough to commit to that much red!

Inspiration Board: Urban Natural
City & country mix, stripes & bold prints, organic & industrial

Farrow and Ball - Jo Malone 2

Paint: Oval Room Blue, No. 85

Pair with:
Picture Gallery Red, No. 42
Black Blue, No. 95
Pointing, No. 2003

Wallpaper: The Lotus Papers, BP 2053

Personal & Room Scent: JoC Malone Blue Agava & Cacao (Candle Available in May 2010)

Editor’s Note: The wallpaper is so graphic and it would definitely make a grand statement in a living room. I like how they chose a more casual stripe fabric and hint to bringing in some natural elements—this would make the room feel more comfortable and approachable.

Which inspiration board speaks to you and where would you use it?

The Grapefruit is very light and airy, love it! The Spa-scape is my 2nd favorite. Really like the greens, perfect for a bathroom!
    All beautiful though!

  2. Love these inspiration boards…my fav is “fig”. Absolutely love those greens with browned-off purples (aubergine, plum, blackberry, fig sound better!)
